Baseball Athlete of the Week
Cody Norman
La Verne
Sophomore • Pitcher • Vacaville, California


Norman of La Verne was terrific on the hill in a 3-0 win over Occidental in SCIAC play. The sophomore right-hander pitched a complete-game (9.0 inning) shutout allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out 14 batters. The Vacaville, Calif. native faced just 30 hitters en route to his third win of the season. Norman also pitched an inning of relief in the Leopards’ 11-8 non-conference win over Williams, striking out a batter while surrendering just one run on two hits in a no-decision. 

Men's Golf Athlete of the Week
Cade Lawson
Junior • Lake Oswego, Oregon


Lawson paced Redlands to a share of seventh place in the field of 17 teams at the West Cup Invitational at the Sierra La Verne Country Club. Lawson tied for second overall with a three-round score of 217. Lawson carded a round of 75 over the first 18 holes and followed with a 73 on the next 18. He then concluded the event with a sensational score of 69 - a tournament low mark - to finish with 11 birdies for the week. 

Women's Golf Athlete of the Week
Margaret Loncki
Senior • Paradise Valley, California


Loncki of CMS notched SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season after helping the Athenas to a second place finish at the Redlands Invitational. Loncki registered a third-place overall score (best amongst DIII competitors) with a two-round total of 149 as CMS finished as the top DIII team in the field of 17. 

Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week
Hanna Morford
Junior • Midfield • West Linn, Oregon


Morford paced Redlands to a 1-1 week that saw the Bulldogs secure a 16-3 win over DePauw, before falling, 10-5 to Chapman in SCIAC action. Morford registered nine goals and three assists for the week notching seven markers against DePauw. She also came away with three ground balls, five draw controls (four against Chapman), three caused turnovers, and finished with an 83.3 shot-on-goal percentage. 


Softball Athlete of the Week
Liz Rodarte
Junior • Pitcher/Infield • Ontario, California


Rodarte of Pomona-Pitzer earned her second SCIAC Athlete of the Week accolade of the season after helping the Sagehens to a 4-0 week that featured a double-header conference sweep of Chapman (6-4 and 1-0), and a non-league sweep of Willamette. Rodarte pitched a complete-game shutout in game two against the Panthers, allowing just two hits while striking out five in a close, 1-0 win. Rodarte also struck out seven in a 2-0 victory over Williamette in game one, and pitched a scoreless inning of relief to earn the game two save. 


Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week
Julian Gordy
Junior • Tarzana, California


Gordy of CMS paced the Stags to a 3-1 week that featured wins over Chapman (9-0) and Middlebury (8-1), as well as a tough, 5-4 setback to Williams. Gordy was 3-0 at No. 4 singles, and 2-1 in No. 1 doubles teaming with Nikolai Parodi. Gordy earned thrilling three-set victories against all three ranked teams he faced this week.

Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week
Catherine Allen
Sophomore • Shoreline, Washington


Allen of CMS secured her second SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors following a terrific performance against Middlebury - a 7-2 win for the Athenas. Allen and doubles partner Caroline Cox trailed 7-2, but rallied to win five-straight games to force a tie-breaker. The duo went on to claim the tiebreaker 7-2 and help CMS open up an important 3-0 lead. Allen went on to dominate her match at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0, helping the Athenas to a hard-fought victory in the matchup between two ITA top five teams.

Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week
Danny Rosen
Sophomore • Distance • Chicago, Illinois


Rosen of Pomona-Pitzer helped the Sagehens to a SCIAC Multi-Dual wins over Cal Lutheran (111-37) and Whittier (100-62) and also competed at the Bob Larson Distance Carnival. At the distance carnival, Rosen clocked a time of 9:05.48 - the top time in NCAA Division III - and followed that with a mark of 1:57.73 in the 800-meter run the following morning to finish third overall in the event. 

Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week
Emily Bassett
Senior • Throws • Mercer Island, Washington


Bassett won three individual events for CMS in SCIAC Multi-Dual action as the Athenas defeated Whittier (99-62) and Cal Lutheran (116.50-45.50). Bassett won the shot put (11.37 meters), the discus (37.41 meters) and the hammer throw (58.90 meters). Her toss in the hammer was the best mark in program history and is the second highest in NCAA Division III this year. 


Women's Water Polo Athlete of the Week
Jessica Gaffney
Senior • Attack • Santa Barbara, California


Gaffney guided CMS to a 2-0 week that featured SCIAC wins over Whittier, 11-4 and Caltech, 17-3. Gaffney collected eight goals during the week with four each coming against the Poets and Beavers as the Athenas improved to 7-2 in conference play. She also finished with an assist in the win over Caltech.
