NEW ORLEANS, La. - Seven Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) men's and women's track & field teams, and a combined 41 student-athletes were honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as recently announced by the organization.
Seven schools from the SCIAC were represented on the men's and women's All-Academic Teams including Caltech, Cal Lutheran, CMS, Occidental, Pomona-Pitzer, La Verne and Redlands. On the men's side, Caltech tied for the highest team GPA (3.62) with NESCAC member Middlebury.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- Competed in an NCAA indoor or outdoor championship
- Finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
On the men's side, Pomona-Pitzer led the league with a total of seven selections, while CMS and Redlands led the women's teams with seven recipients each.
