A total of 13 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams and 31 individual student-athletes were honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic honorees as recently annouced by the organization.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
Pomona-Pitzer was named the NCAA Division III Cross Country Men's Scholar Team of the Year. The Sagehens won their first national title in program history this past November at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.
Earning the team distinction on the men's side were California Lutheran (3.14), Occidental (3.27), Chapman (3.52), Whittier (3.58), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) (3.60), Pomona-Pitzer (3.66), and Caltech (3.71). Team All-Academic honors on the women's side went to Occidental (3.29), Whittier (3.42), Caltech (3.52), Cal Lutheran (3.57), CMS (3.60), and Chapman (3.70).
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction as an individual, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
From Caltech, Simon Ricci; from CMS, Miles Christensen, Thomas D'Anieri, Wilson Ives, Will Kimball, Daniel Kresemann and Henry Pick; from Pomona-Pitzer, Ethan Ashby, Joseph Hesse-Withbroe, Owen Keiser, Dante Paszkeicz, Daniel Rosen, Hugo Ward and Ethan Widlansky.
Individuals qualifying for All-Academic recognition on the women's side were Molly Crotteau and Claire Hu of Caltech; Veronica Redpath of Cal Lutheran; Brooklyn Button, Olivia Gleason, Riley Harmon, Abby Johnson, and Dulcie Jones of CMS; Lilah Abrams, Layla Lim, Lydia Montgomery, and Sabrina Thurber of Occidental; Lila Cardillo, Helen Guo, Abby Loiselle, Madeleine Mount-Cors, and Ela Nickels of Pomona-Pitzer.
