Pitcher of the Week

Name: Jiana Rojo
School: La Verne
Year: Junior
Position: 1st Base/Pitcher
Hometown: Newark, Calif.

Jiana Rojo helped lead La Verne to a 2-0 week that featured a non-conference double-header sweep of Pacific Lutheran (4-2 and 5-4). Rojo tossed a complete game win in the opener allowing two runs on five hits and striking out seven batters, before pitching the final 1.2 innings to pick up the win in a one-run contest. She allowed two runs (one earned) to finish the week with a 2.42 ERA, and scattered three hits in the second game.

Name: Natalie Horton
School: Redlands
Year: Sophomore
Position: Utility
Hometown: Palmdale, Calif.

Natalie Horton propelled Redlands to a three-game sweep of Chapman in SCIAC play last week as the Bulldogs secured wins of 8-7, 7-5 and 8-3 over the Panthers. Horton hit .667 for the week (8-for-12) with an on-base percentage of .714 and a slugging percentage of .667. She scored five times in the series drove in a pair of runs. She also walked twice and stole three bases as Redlands was able to utilize her speed on the basepaths to secure the sweep.
